Lisa, a formally trained ceramicist, began her career with pottery 30 years ago. Combining her love of pottery and art she started Delaware Bay Clay in 2016 in Lewes, Delaware. She works in red clay with a white liquid clay (slip) poured over and wiped. This creates a depth of field to the background. The pottery is fired in a kiln turning it in to porous stone. After it is decorated with glaze and stains, it is fired to 2280 degrees. This vitrifies the clay. It is no longer porous. It is dishwasher and microwave safe.
